Custom Wooden Staircases - Mauth
Custom staircase delivery and installation for Mauth and nearby areas
Mauth is a small mountain village near the Dreisessel and the border — and orders from here have a character all their own. Rustic, solid timber, forest — those words describe the houses and the clients. Karel Pojsl knows this area from his time working as a joiner in German workshops and understands the region from the inside. Staircases we design for Mauth cottages and family homes are made with awareness of local climate, typical architecture and what simply works here. We drive in from the Šumava side of the border — distance is no obstacle when the brief is right.

Context and local specifics for Mauth
Rustic character, robust materials
Houses in Mauth and surroundings are built for mountain conditions. We use strong solid-timber elements — tread thickness from 50 mm upward, oak or maple with a hard protective surface.
Mountain climate as a challenge
Temperature and humidity swings are more pronounced at altitude. Every staircase is planned and acclimatised so it stays dimensionally stable through those changes.
A shared forest culture
Mauth lies where Bavarian and Šumava forest meet. We feel that this shared culture of wood and nature influences how clients on both sides of the border perceive and appreciate craftsmanship.

Staircase types we produce
L-Shaped Stairs
L-shaped stairs are one of the most popular solutions for modern family homes. The staircase path bends by 90° or 180°, elegantly utilizing a corner of the room without wasting floor area. Typical footprint requirements are approximately 3 × 1.5 m or 2 × 2.5 m for a total floor-to-floor height of around 3 m. The load-bearing structure consists of one or two solid-wood stringers; the staircase can be self-supporting or wall-anchored. For the railing we offer timber balusters, stainless-steel rod posts, or glass infill panels — always tailored precisely to your interior.
Hlavní výhody:
Variety in design
Self-supporting
Flexibility in angle of break
Spiral Staircases
A spiral staircase is an exceptional architectural element that transforms an entrance hall or living space into an extraordinary experience. Its sweeping curve plays with light and shadow, unfolding from base to crown as a natural arc of solid wood. Structurally, spiral staircases are built with one or two stringers supporting wedge-shaped solid wood treads. The handrail follows the continuous flowing line and can be finished with timber, wrought iron, or stainless steel posts to match the style of your interior.
Hlavní výhody:
Ideal for larger spaces
Majestic appearance

Stairs on Steel Frame
Stairs on a steel frame combine engineering precision with the craftsmanship of a joiner. The self-supporting steel stringer — welded from flat plates or formed sheet steel — provides the structural backbone onto which solid-wood treads are firmly anchored. The result is a staircase with a remarkably slender profile that appears light and open despite its high load capacity. The steel can be shot-blasted, powder-coated, or finished with a clear protective coating. Treads are typically made from robust hardwoods — oak, beech, ash, or walnut — naturally complementing the cool precision of metal with the warmth of natural material.
Hlavní výhody:
Modern and elegant appearance
Flexible design

Platform Staircases
Platform staircases offer a comfortable solution for homes with larger floor-to-floor heights or where a change of direction is required. In their U or L configuration, a mid-flight landing is added at the bend, breaking up the climb and increasing overall safety. The generous maneuvering space on the landing makes moving furniture to upper floors significantly easier. The handrail and balustrade run continuously throughout the entire stair run and landing, with fitting and baluster designs chosen to complement your interior precisely.
Hlavní výhody:
Comfortable and safe
Easy maintenance
Large maneuvering space

With Glass Railing
Staircases with glass railing bring together natural light, openness, and safety in one elegant composition. Glass panels let the grain and texture of the wood take centre stage, open the space visually, and carry daylight down into the lower floors. Toughened or laminated safety glass with a minimum thickness of 10 mm ensures rigidity even under impact loads. Fixing is via linear or point-mount stainless-steel clamps in a satin or bright-polished finish to suit your preference. This type of balustrade is an ideal choice for contemporary new builds and renovations alike wherever an open, airy feel is the priority.
Hlavní výhody:
Timeless modern look
More light and a visually open space
Safe solution with attention to detail
Spindle Staircases
Spindle staircases are a compact spiral construction in which wedge-shaped treads radiate from a central post and expand into the room. With a diameter starting from 1.6 m — we recommend at least 1.8–2.0 m for comfortable use — they are ideal wherever floor space is limited. The central post can be solid timber, steel, or a combination; treads are typically crafted from hardwood, most often oak, ash, or beech. At the top, the staircase terminates with a round handrail filled with timber spindles or elegant stainless-steel rods. A spindle staircase is the best choice when you need to bridge a height difference using the minimum possible floor area — for example, as access to a mezzanine or attic.
Hlavní výhody:
Compact solution for smaller spaces
Can be placed in the center of a room

Log Cabin Stairs
Log cabin stairs are designed to integrate seamlessly into the rustic, natural character of log homes, cottages, and mountain chalets. The key material is roughly hewn or lightly worked solid timber that retains its natural lines and character — including knots, grain variations, and colour transitions. Preferred species are those with strong, distinctive grain: oak, ash, black locust, or larch. The railing typically features irregularly shaped branches, hand-forged ironwork, or curved timber posts, making the staircase feel like an organic part of the entire structure. Every set of log cabin stairs is a completely unique original that cannot be replicated.
Hlavní výhody:
Massive wood with prominent features
Natural appearance emphasizing wood texture
Authentic style

Stairs on Concrete
Stairs on concrete are an economical and highly durable solution: the concrete base or load-bearing slab provides stability, while the wooden treads add surface warmth and beauty. Hardwood treads — oak, beech, ash, or pine — are glued and mechanically fixed onto the prepared concrete substructure. The risers can be finished in matching timber, or plastered and colour-matched to the staircase wall for a clean, minimalist look. The result is a staircase with the longevity of concrete and the visual warmth of natural wood that remains low-maintenance throughout the lifetime of the house.
Hlavní výhody:
Sturdy and stable
Simple maintenance

Mill Stairs
Mill stairs are a very steep staircase variant — typically exceeding a 45° pitch — designed to bridge a significant height difference over a very short plan length. They are most commonly used as access to loft rooms, mezzanines, cellars, or utility areas. Structurally, they rely on alternating left and right treads, so each step has full width on at least one side — making them surprisingly comfortable when correctly proportioned. The nosing of each tread can be made from a contrasting colour of wood or fitted with an LED strip to aid orientation during descent. A simple handrail or classic timber balustrade is typically included.
Hlavní výhody:
Steep ascent over short distances
Flexibility in height and shape
Variable design

Epoxy Resin
Epoxy resin staircases are a unique fusion of living nature and contemporary design. The resin is poured into intentionally retained cracks, splits, or recesses in the solid wood; once cured it forms a smooth, glass-like surface in the chosen colour — clear, turquoise, ocean blue, gold, black, or white. The resin veins follow the wood grain so that every tread becomes a one-of-a-kind artwork. The surface is hard, hygienic, easy to wipe clean, and highly resistant to wear. The best wood species for this treatment are oak, walnut, or exotic hardwood with a bold, dramatic grain.
Hlavní výhody:
Unique design
Emphasis on wood texture

Stairs with LED Lighting
LED lighting transforms a staircase from a functional element into a decorative focal point of the whole interior. Light strips are mounted under the overhanging nosing of each tread, from where they cast a soft, diffused glow along the face of each step. Colour temperature can be warm white for a cosy atmosphere, neutral white for clear visibility, or RGB for dramatic colour effects on demand. The lighting is easily connected to a motion sensor or twilight switch so the staircase illuminates automatically with the first footstep. Beyond the aesthetic value, it is a safety measure that significantly reduces the risk of tripping in the dark for everyone in the household.
Hlavní výhody:
Highlights the lines and shapes of wood
Enhanced safety
Option to connect with motion sensors
Color and intensity variability
