Types of Wooden Staircases: A Guide to Choosing the Right One
The staircase is the heart of your home. Before deciding, it helps to understand the different types available — and which one suits your space. We offer free consultation.
L-shaped staircase
The most common type in family homes. Two straight flights connected by a landing or winders. Comfortable, spacious and suitable for most floor plans. Available in oak, ash, beech and other species.
Quarter-turn / spiral staircase
Elegant solution for modern interiors. The staircase turns 90° or 180° around a fixed axis. Space-saving and visually open.
Spindle staircase
Minimalist spiral around a central spindle. Ideal for very small spaces or as a design feature. Available in wood and stainless steel combination.
Alternating tread staircase
Alternating steps — each step is shorter on one side. Significantly more space-efficient. Typical for loft conversions and holiday homes.
Half-landing staircase
Two or more straight flights connected by a landing. Suitable for larger homes — representational, comfortable and safe for all ages.
Staircase with LED lighting or epoxy resin
Modern finish for any staircase type. LED strips in treads or balustrades. Epoxy resin for a unique transparent effect.
